Vice President Leni Robredo said Friday that she welcomed President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in Sorsogon City out of respect.
In a radio interview, Robredo said she did not think twice when Senate President Francis ”Chiz” Escudero asked her to wait for the President.
”Sa akin kasi hindi naman isyu ‘yun, in fact para sa akin ‘yung nagbibigay respeto ka sa posisyon, so wala namang… walang pagaatubili ‘yung pag-oo ko kay Senator Chiz kung puwedeng sumama ko sa kanyang pagsalubong,” Robredo said.
(For me it’s not an issue, in fact that’s giving respect to his position so I didn’t think twice when Senator Chiz asked me to welcome the President.)
”Tingin ko tama lang naman kasi bisita natin sa Bicol Region, ‘yun na nga ang problema nga di ako naka-stay nang matagal kasi may hinahabol ako,” she added in her interview with dzRH.
(I think that’s just right because he’s our visitor in the Bicol Region, the problem was I wasn’t able to stay.)
Marcos earlier expressed elation over what seems to be a “political reconciliation” between him and Robredo.
At the inauguration of the Sorsogon Sports Arena, Marcos met Robredo where they briefly shook hands.
