PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. hosted a visit from the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) NCR Northeast at their Technolab on Oct. 16. The event brought together officers and members from various sectors, including semiconductor, academia, broadcasting, and manufacturing.
The attendees toured the advanced Technology Laboratory at Smart Tower, where PLDT and Smart explore and test cutting-edge solutions, including 5G, fiber, cloud technologies, and innovations such as AI-driven network automation. These technologies aim to enhance connectivity, efficiency, and the overall customer experience.
During the tour, PLDT and Smart executives, who are also IECEP members, shared insights on several emerging topics, including Network Disaggregation, Cloudification, Automation, Extended Reality, Private 5G, and Smart Home technologies. The participants gained valuable knowledge about new communications and connectivity solutions that are currently being tested and are not yet available in the market.
This initiative highlights the PLDT Group’s commitment to inclusive learning and meaningful innovation, supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) #4 on Quality Education and #9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
