UNITED States President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday (Tuesday in Manila) greeted Filipino Americans on their Heritage Month.

Biden said Filipinos and Filipino Americans “enriched the very essence of who we are as a people.”

“By honoring and reflecting on the proud history and heritage of this vibrant community, we all came closer to realizing the full promise of America for all Americans,” he said.

“They are the community leaders who advocate and stand up for all of us. They are the first responders and Service members who put themselves at risk to keep the rest of us safe. And they represent the best of who we are as a Nation, as athletes and artists, entrepreneurs and engineers, public servants and health care workers, and so much more. By honoring and reflecting on the public history and heritage of this vibrant community, we all come closer to realizing the full promise of America for all Americans,” he added.

Harris, who is running for President in the upcoming US elections, also uplifted the stories of the Filipino community.

“During Filipino American History Month, we celebrate the contributions that Filipinos and Filipino Americans have made throughout our nation’s history,” she wrote on her social media platforms.

“Throughout this month, we uplift the stories of Filipinos and Filipino Americans — an integral part of the story of America,” she added.

There are 4.1 million Filipinos residing in the US, according to a 2022 study by Pew Research.
