The leading cement manufacturer in the Philippines, Republic Cement was awarded two citations at the 2023 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awards (PMIEA), which took place at Palace on October 16, 2024.
Republic Cement’s Batangas and Teresa plants were honored in the Quarry Operations (non-metallic category) for their exemplary performance in environmental conservation, safety excellence, and responsible mining practices.
President Marcos Jr. lauded the awardees for their commitment to safe, environmentally sound, and socially responsible operations.
He emphasized the importance of mining as an opportunity to uplift communities and ensure environmental sustainability for future generations.
Republic Cement CEO Roman Menz expressed the company’s pride in receiving the awards, stressing the company’s dedication to safety, sustainability, and responsible mining.
The PMIEA, presented by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Mines and Geosciences Bureau (DENR–MGB), recognizes organizations that have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the mining industry while upholding environmental standards and promoting sustainable practices.
