THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) forged maritime cooperation agreements with Singapore in time for the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the city-state.

A Philippine delegation led by Commo. Joel Simo-ag discussed with their Singaporean counterparts strategies on Southeast Asia security issues.

The delegation was received by Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo Macaraig and Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Col. Egberto Dacoscos at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on Thursday.

“Strengthening our maritime capabilities in collaboration with regional allies such as Singapore is essential to safeguarding our waters and promoting stability. Through these discussions, we aim to enhance our strategic perspectives and adopt best practices that can improve operational efficiency in our own waters,” Simo-ag said.

The Singapore visit was a component of the Coast Guard Officer Senior Executive Course Class 03-2024 Foreign Academic Travel, an intensive program aimed at developing the leadership capabilities of PCG officers.
