At least 3,157 individuals or 665 families are reported affected by #KristinePH based on data from the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

At least 480 houses were destroyed, while fallen trees reached 61 that includes a huge tree in the West Visayas State University campus.

The good news is that the City Social Welfare and Development Office was able to facilitate preemptive evacuation without a trace of the past challenges because the residents themselves vacated their houses two days prior to the onslaught of #KristinePH.

“Two days ago, nasa San Juan covered gym na sila, boluntaryo na nag-evacuate na lang para sa kanilang safety,” CSWDO Molo District Head Elizabeth Alcoran said.

Several residents from coastal areas have already returned home, as of October 25, 2024 to carry out repair works on their houses destroyed by strong winds and rough waves. Most of the evacuees are from Barangay San Juan, Molo who sought temporary shelter at Baluarte Elementary School.

“Ang hangin biglaan talaga, nilipad ang aming dingding. Hindi pa namin naayos, wala pa kasing trabaho,” Jenny Rose Abellar, an evacuee, said.

Meanwhile, in the Province of Iloilo, an 80-year-old woman identified as Josefina Gordon died after a fallen tree hit her house in Barangay Lapayon, Leganes town. Another house was hit by a fallen tree in Barangay Ilawud, Zarraga town.

In the Municipality of Anini-y, Province of Antique, six persons were rescued by residents after their boat capsized. The six were reported to be from Cagayancillo, Palawan.

Further, it was learned that over 37,000 individuals were affected by #KristinePH in Western Visayas.
