MANILA, Philippines — The Filipino-Australian artist RINI continues his musical journey with the new EP, Lucky 7, via Warner Records, to further find his foothold in the global music industry.

He belongs to that group of fast-rising music talents that keep the music and recording landscape ever engaging.

A piece of information given to The STAR says that the singer-songwriter is focused “to push the boundaries of modern music with his unique style.”

“It’s been really great,” said RINI of his experience in creating music in the international scene and navigating the latter in a recent virtual interview with this paper. “I would say, you know, I’m super grateful for all the experiences, good and bad, because being in this kind of industry, especially today, is like unpredictable. It’s getting tough to, you know, like figuring it out. It’s a whole different type of music listening experience for everyone.”

This encompasses social media and digital platforms as avenues for song distribution.

“It’s been quite interesting, but you know the most important thing for me is making music, and you know, making sure the fans, you know, get the music that they love from me. That’s what I’m kinda focusing on right now,” added he, who has also been collaborating with an agency responsible for tours he has done before and the ones planned in the future.

Asked how his music has changed and evolved from last year, RINI, now based in the US, had this to say: “There’s definitely been, you know, a change in maybe like story-wise, kasi maraming pinagdaanan last year. You know personal experiences like me being away from my family.

“I’m just making music that reflects where I am in life right now. It’s very kinda of in between a lot of things, if that makes sense, because I’m trying to get to know myself more. I’m getting to the point where… I’m trying to make sure my life is good and, you know, I’m trying to obviously build the future, for like, maybe family and stuff like that.”

“Music(-wise), I think it’s evolving sonically, you know the lyrics, the sounds,” added he. “I’m working on and developing a new sound that I’m really wanting to put out for a while now. I think Lucky 7, the new EP, is like, that’s just the door to what I’m making (in the future).”

The new EP, composed of tunes such as Scars, Gone With The Wind, Under The Surface, Miracle, Ecstasy, Matter To You and Far Away, is a preview of the new musical possibilities he may venture into from now on. RINI, in a statement, describes the EP’s genre as a blend of alternative, funk, rock and R&B.

“I’ve been thinkin’ about the future of my music. I’ve got a lot of things that I wanna talk about for the next project when it comes to the topics of the songs,” said RINI, who wants to narrate bits and pieces of his life, like growing up in the Philippines, moving to Australia, finding out his love for music and his upbringing through forthcoming songs.

“It’s not just gonna be about like love songs this time. I always write love songs and I feel like I never really get the chance to like, tell my life story in music. That’s kinda what I wanna go with the next projects,” the artist shared.

As for Lucky 7, RINI commenced writing some of the songs three years ago, right after completing and releasing the EP UltraViolet and mounting the “Past Naked Eye Tour.”

“The name (of the EP) came from actually, when I moved to LA, I was having a hard time finding a place to stay,” recalled he. “It was hard to get approved for a place but thank God, there was one place that (was) in Studio City, California. It was unit #7 basically, and when we got there, that’s where I started making new music, and I made so (much) music that I had to pick seven songs.”

According to his label, they should consider a smaller project and foray into a big album after.

“Originally, I was like, I wanna put out a whole album, like a big album, maybe like 15, 16 tracks. They were like, ‘Maybe just keep it short for now because we don’t know with the market is.’ Those are the seven songs that I picked,” said RINI.

“So, that’s why it’s 7. Basically, the songs are kinda just like a reflection of what I’ve been going (through) for the past two years, you know my relationship and the relationships of the people that I’m with, and the stuff that’s happening around me.” “It’s kinda like, a gateway, like I said, to the new topics I wanna talk about,” he concluded.
