MANILA, Philippines — The K-pop girl group UNIS will be donating a portion of their fan concert income to those who were affected by the Typhoon Kristine. The newly formed group just staged their UNIS in CURIOUSland fancon at the New Frontier Theater on Oct. 25 and at the Waterfront Hotel Cebu on Oct. 26.

“First of all, we want to thank the press who came here today to see us. We want to send a message of comfort to all those who were affected by the typhoon. UNIS will be donating a part of the income from their fan concert to those who were affected by the typhoon. And we hope that there will not be much damage to those who were affected by it,” Hyeon-ju, a Filipino-Korean member, announced through an English translator during their presscon held on Thursday at the Sheraton Manila Hotel, Pasay.

The UNIS members also include two other Filipinos, Gehlee and Elisia, plus Nana, Kotoko, Yunha, Yoona and Seowon.

Elisia added, “We are praying and hoping that you and your loved ones are all safe and sound. And we hope that you guys find strength and resilience and of course, hope. And just know that help is on their way and we hope that you guys just stay safe. And thank you so much for the reporters and editors who came here despite this kind of weather today.”

It was the first time that the girls mounted a fancon in the Philippines and they were thrilled to meet their fans, collectively dubbed the EverAfters. Last May, they were also in the country for their fansign event.

“I think that because of the Filo EverAfters, we were able to come here to the Philippines earlier than expected and especially this time, there will be a meeting of our fans during the fancon. So this is more memorable and exciting for UNIS,” stated Hyeon-ju.

Elisia, on behalf of the group, expressed her gratitude to their Filipino fans for the love and support they showed to them from the beginning of their journey. “And we really prepared really hard for this fancon and we really just wanna have a great time with you guys and have fun.”

Gehlee offered, “I would like to add that we are super excited that we were able to come back to the Philippines ng ganito kabilis. Because our last fan meeting, that we had in May, we made so many good memories and it was just a meaningful experience. And I have confidence to say that I feel that we’ve improved so much since then and developed.”

UNIS also showed eagerness to do a collaboration with the Nation’s Girl Group BINI.

“We had the chance to do a cover of our ates from BINI, (with their song) Pantropiko. And since then, I think it would be really interesting for BINI and UNIS, a P-pop and K-pop girl groups, to like come together and work together and just make a new song. I think it would be really interesting po,” expressed Elisia.

UNIS performed BINI’s hit Pantropiko at their fancon.
