THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has assisted a batch of Filipino repatriates from Lebanon who arrived in the Philippines on Saturday.
Personnel from DSWD’s Field Office-National Capital Region (FO-NCR), along with other national government agencies, welcomed 244 overseas Filipinos (OFs) and their 36 dependents upon their arrival via chartered flight from Beirut, Lebanon, to Manila as part of its “airport salubong” project.
Under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program, 232 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and 12 OFs each received P10,000 in cash and P10,000 in food aid.
The DSWD social workers also conducted interviews to assess the repatriates’ condition and needs, particularly their emotional well-being.
“Under a whole-of-government approach as directed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the DSWD will continue to monitor the situation of our repatriates with other government agencies,” DSWD FO-NCR Regional Director Michael Joseph Lorico said on Tuesday.
“We are also ready to provide other augmentation support if deemed necessary,” he added.
The repatriates received P75,000 in financial assistance from the Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
