To facilitate the faster entry of passengers, x-ray machines were removed at the entrance of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC) announced.

According to a “24 Oras” report by Sandra Aguinaldo, travellers can directly proceed to the check-in counter without having to queue to get in the terminal for the x-ray scanning.

The NNIC said it is in contact with various stakeholders at the airport to handle the expected influx of passengers. Airline companies were also notified to open their check-in counters earlier so that they could start attending to travelers who were already in the area.

The new management also said the issue of baggage delays had been remedied.

The Manila International Airport Authority said additional personnel were deployed as people are expected to travel for the Undas break.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines also said that airports are on heightened alert not only because of Undas but also because of Typhoon Lion. It also ensured that all the equipment and machines in the airport were functioning to avoid inconvenience to the passengers.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
