A Philippine Air Force C295 aircraft carrying relief goods landed with a detached tire on Friday in Basco, Batanes, the PAF said.
The incident occurred at 3 p.m. as the aircraft landed in Basco Airport, the PAF said.
The plane which left Manila earlier was transporting family food packs for the Office of Civil Defense when it “experienced a detached nose landing gear tire during its landing,” Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla said in a statement.
No one was injured among the pilots and crew.
The PAF and the AFP are conducting an investigation into the incident.
“The PAF assures the public that despite this incident, our commitment and selfless duty to conduct rescue and relief operations in Batanes and all other typhoon-affected areas will continue by all other means,” the Air Force said.
“The AFP assures the public of continued delivery of essential supplies to affected communities. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident, and steps will be taken to ensure the safety and efficiency of future operations. Updates will be provided as the situation develops,” Padilla said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
