Nokturno

Directed by Mikhail Red, Nokturno follows the story of Jamie (Nadine Lustre), an OFW who returns back to her hometown after the death of her sister because of a curse from a creature born from Filipino folklore called the kumakatok. According to the legend, the curse begins once you hear three knocks on the door in the middle of the night. Afterwards, three figures of death will be coming for you and your family.

Outside

Set in the midst of a zombie outbreak, director Carlo Ledesma’s Outside is about a family who makes their way out of the city and goes to a farmhouse belonging to the father’s parents, which leads them to uncover some of their family’s secrets. It stars Sid Lucero, Beauty Gonzalez, Marco Masa, and Aiden Tyler Patdu.

Deleter

Winning the Best Picture award at the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Mikhail Red’s Deleter stars Nadine Lustre as an apathetic woman named Lyra whose job is to filter graphic content online as a deleter. With the stoic facade she keeps, Lyra soon comes face to face with the traumatic past she has been trying to forget.

In My Mother’s Skin

Taking place near the end of World War II, director and writer Kenneth Dagatan’s In My Mother’s Skin follows the story of a young girl named Tala (Felicity Kyle Napuli) who turned to a deceitful flesh-eating fairy to save her dying mother. The film stars Napuli alongside Beauty Gonzalez, James Mavie Estrella, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, and Angeli Bayani.

Mallari
