The tropical cyclones Kristine and Leon affected a total of 2,200,731 families or 8,630,663 persons, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Sunday.
The affected population were in 12,053 barangays, the NDRRMC said in its situational report.
A total of 227,133 persons or 56,396 families sought shelter in 1,467 evacuation centers, while 521,858 persons or 108,941 families stayed outside evacuation centers.
The death toll remained at 146, with 126 still for validation.
Meanwhile, 130 were injured, of whom 120 are being validated.
Twenty people remained missing as of Sunday.
Roads, bridges, power, communication
Kristine and Leon affected 858 road sections and 110 bridges. As of Sunday, 703 roads and 92 bridges are already passable.
Of the 367 cities and municipalities which lost power during the passing of the cyclones, 323 had their power supply restored already.
Meanwhile, of the 50 cities and municipalities whose water supply was affected, 43 had their water service restored.
Sixty-five cities and municipalities had their communication lines disrupted but 17 of these have already been restored. Forty-eight cities and municipalities still have disrupted communication lines.
Airports and seaports
The NDRRMC said three airports were affected by Kristine and Leon, but all of them are now operational.
Meanwhile, 96 seaports were affected during the passage of the cyclones. Seventy-five of them are now operational and have resumed trips.
The number of stranded passengers was at 2,141 as of Sunday, while that of rolling cargoes was at 502, vessels at 19, and motor banca at one.
Damage
A total of 189,340 houses were damaged by Kristine and Leon, and total damage cost is at P3,480,770.
Agricultural damage meanwhile was pegged at P4,526,481,853.51 representing the production loss or cost of damage in value.
A total of 106,715 farmers and fisherfolk were affected.
Meanwhile, 105 irrigation facilities were damaged, costing P1,031,418,000.
Infrastructure damage reached P7,212,262,651.45 as 946 structures were affected.
Assistance
The NDRRMC said 2,166,624 families required assistance costing P1,158,308,265.82.
So far, as per its tally, 750,196 families or 34.63% of families affected have already been assisted.
Local government units and regional agencies were given assistance worth P2,549,371.31.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared Monday, November 4, 2024, as a Day of National Mourning for the victims of heavy rains, flooding, and strong winds brought by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).
In his Proclamation No. 728, issued by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by authority of the President, Marcos said that setting up November 4 as national day of mourning was “in solidarity with the bereaved families and loved ones of those who perished due to the devastation brought by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.” —KG, GMA Integrated News
