NAVOTAS Mayor John Rey Tiangco and his brother Rep. Tobias “Toby” Tiangco on Tuesday thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for signing into law the measure that sought to establish new Regional Trial Courts (RTCs) and Metropolitan Trial Courts (MTCs) in the city.
“We extend our gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for signing RA (Republic Act) 12052, which establishes three new RTC branches and two new MTC branches in Navotas City,” Representative Tiangco said in a statement sent to The Manila Times.
He also said that the additional court branches would help ease the heavy caseloads of courts.
“This will help ensure more timely justice and greater efficiency in resolving cases for our community,” he added.
House Bill 3013 for the same purpose was filed by then-congressman and now mayor Tiangco.
Rep. Toby Tiangco refiled the bill to help prevent delays in the resolution of cases in the local courts.
“This milestone is especially meaningful, as when I was in Congress, I also filed House Bill 3013 to address the need for more accessible and efficient justice services in our city,” the mayor said.
He thanked his brother Representative Tiangco for pushing and supporting the initiative by refiling it in the 19th Congress.
“Together, we are building a brighter, more just future for Navotas City,” he said.
