Typhoon “Marce” exited the Philippine area of responsibility as of Friday afternoon, according to the 5 p.m. bulletin of state weather bureau PAGASA.
Moving west-southwestward at 20 kilometers per hour (kph), the center of its eye was estimated based on all available data 285 kilometers west-northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
Marce recorded maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.
“Marce is forecast to re-intensify within the next 24 hours. Afterward, it will then weaken due to increasingly unfavorable environment associated with the upcoming northeasterly wind flow,” the bulletin read.
PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said in a 5 p.m. public weather forecast that Marce no longer has any direct effect on the country and all tropical cyclone wind signals have since been lifted.
However, thunderstorms were forecast on Friday afternoon until evening around the Ilocos Region. Metro Manila and the rest of the country would only experience cloudy skies or brief rainfall as the tropical cyclone no longer affects the Philippines directly.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area (LPA) was monitored east of southeastern Luzon. It is said to have a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours but has a higher probability of strengthening into a storm within the next five days.
