The Iloilo Provincial Government launched an innovative housing initiative to support families in Barangay Nangka, Batad, who are vulnerable to natural disasters such as flooding and landslides.

Through the Purok Resilience Program (PRP), 30 families from landslide-prone areas will soon have safer, more sustainable homes.

With P30 million allocated by Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., the project will provide durable, triplex-style housing units designed for both resilience and comfort.

Each of the 10 buildings will include three individual units, fully equipped with essential living spaces such as bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and living areas, giving families the foundation they need to thrive in a secure environment.

Additionally, the homes are designed with features tailored to the needs of the community. Ceramic tiles, fiber cement board ceilings, and insulated metal roofing offer both comfort and durability, while solar rooftop panels contribute to energy efficiency, helping families manage utility costs.

Located on a spacious 5,000-square meter lot, the project site will also include a road network and drainage system for improved accessibility and flood protection.

Defensor aims to extend this program across Iloilo to assist more families exposed to natural hazards.

The project is currently making steady progress, with foundational infrastructure like roads and drainage already under construction, marking a critical step in creating safe, sustainable communities for vulnerable residents.
