While public office is far from Piolo Pascual’s mind for now, the actor could not evade questions about politics because of his poignant role in the socio-political action-drama series, “Pamilya Sagrado.”
Tonight, Pascual bids farewell to his character Rafael Sagrado, who, from a local government official ultimately rose to the presidency amid the show’s complex storyline.
At his finale media conference, the discussion also touched on Pascual’s massive billboards along EDSA and other major streets. While he is not running for public office, the billboard carries messages aimed at improving the lives of Filipinos, in partnership with a particular party-list.
“[Regarding those billboards], I’m in partnership with a party-list that I supported during the last election. We’re working on projects together — they help my foundation, and we visit different places to do outreach,” Pascual noted.
The 47-year-old was referring to his personal charity organization, the Hebreo Foundation, which has long supported many scholars and runs various programs for the poor across the country.
Meanwhile, the party-list he supports is Ang Probinsyano Party List (APPL), which has been tirelessly advocating for the rights and welfare of Filipinos in remote provinces that are often neglected by government services, opportunities, and aid.
Pascual explained that he’s confident in his decision to endorse a party-list like APPL, as they are genuinely working for the betterment of the Filipino people, adding he is in “a good place” for doing so.
Pascual has just witnessed the large-scale outreach by APPL for victims of Typhoon Kristine and expressed admiration for the party-list’s efforts.
He was inspired to see the hardworking and youthful First Nominee, Congressman Alfred “Apid” delos Santos, personally leading the distribution of aid to around 2,800 families and 3,000 individuals affected in Albay, including Legazpi City and Camaligan, Camarines Sur.
In closing, Pascual shared that when it comes to political endorsements, he looks for genuine service and real commitment from those seeking his support, like APPL. He is always ready to collaborate with people who truly care about the welfare of Filipinos because, like them, he wants to help improve the lives of ordinary Filipinos.
“I endorse those who I believe in and who I think will really help many Filipinos in need,” Pascual finally said.
The finale of Pamilya Sagrado will air tonight, November 15, on ABS-CBN.
