SENATE Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III has criticized the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) for focusing on smaller cases while larger transactions evade their attention.

The senator called on the AMLC to strengthen its capabilities in combating large-scale money laundering operations during the plenary debate on the proposed P6.3-trillion national budget for 2025 on Wednesday. He supported the agency’s budget increase but challenged the AMLC to make the most of it.

He said the AMLC should intensify or take a more proactive approach in curbing money laundering.
