MANILA, Philippines — Super Typhoon Pepito has made landfall in Dipaculao, Aurora, the state-run weather agency said on Sunday.

Nathaniel Servando, administrator of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) told The Manila Times via Viber that the super typhoon hit the landmass around 3:20 p.m.

He said the agency has yet to get reports from the ground as to the effects and damage caused by Pepito.

“There was extreme threat to life and property but as to the actual damage, we don’t have yet the report,” he said.

The tropical cyclone was expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility Monday morning or afternoon.
