MANILA, Philippines — With no storm in sight in the coming days, weather will be generally fair across the archipelago, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday.
Isolated downpours or thunderstorms, however, could be experienced during late afternoon or at night due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms, weather specialist Rhea Torres said.
She said the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” was particularly affecting Batanes where overcast skies with rains would be likely.
Meanwhile, the shear line – where the hot and cold air converge – is bringing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Babuyan Islands.
The easterlies – winds coming from the east and passing through the Pacific Ocean that carry humid and warm weather – are affecting the rest of Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao Region, the state-run weather agency said in its 5 a.m. advisory.
Pagasa said Metro Manila and the rest of the country would be experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies due to localized thunderstorms over the next 24 hours.
