President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday morning for a working visit.

Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez told Palace reporters that the President arrived there at 2:06 a.m. (UAE time).

Marcos is expected to meet his counterpart, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi.

The PCO earlier said former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos has joined the President in his working visit as “he has close ties with UAE royal family.”

Also joining him in the trip were Environment Secretary Toni Loyzaga, National Commission for Culture and Arts chairperson Vic Manalo, and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Charles Jose.

According to the PCO, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, and Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III are part of the caretake committee while Marcos is abroad.

The PCO has said Marcos will also convey to the UAE government the country’s gratitude for tapping Filipino talent, “allowing it to flourish in an environment that fosters kindness, respect, and tolerance.” — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
