THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and its partner agencies demonstrated enhanced capabilities to safeguard Philippine waters during the Inter-Agency Maritime Capability Exercise (Marcapex) 2024.

The Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) led the exercise from Nov. 21 to 23 at Barangay Daliao Toril, Davao City. Designed to bolster interagency collaboration and maritime readiness, the event featured key scenarios, including a Maritime Law Enforcement Exercise (Marlex), Search and Rescue (SAR) Exercise, Firefighting Exercise, Marine Pollution Exercise (Marpolex), and Passing Honors.

“The exercise brought together various maritime stakeholders to strengthen their capacity in safeguarding the nation’s maritime domain,” CGDSEM stated.

Marcapex 2024 underscored the PCG’s dedication to building a resilient and capable maritime security framework.

CGDSEM said, “The success of Marcapex 2024 highlighted the PCG’s unwavering dedication to building a resilient and capable maritime force, fostering stronger interagency collaboration, and ensuring the safety and security of the country’s maritime waters.”

Participating agencies included the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Navy (PN), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Davao City Central 911, Philippine Red Cross (PRC), Office of Civil Defense (OCD), and Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO). Each plays a crucial role in implementing and responding to the simulated scenarios.
