THE Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday confirmed the ad interim appointment of Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque as secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The CA also approved the ad interim appointments of 22 senior officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and 21 career officers of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Sen. Joel Villanueva urged Aldeguer-Roque to work with the education sector, particularly the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

The senator stressed the need for the DTI to woo investors and train workers.
“If there are investors and we don’t have human resources that are competent to be part of the company, nothing significant will happen,” he said.
“I think, Secretary [Aldeguer-Roque], you need to double your efforts on attracting foreign investors and finding new markets for our MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) to drive economic growth and create job opportunities for our people, which is the advocacy closest to my heart,” Villanueva said.
The CA also confirmed the nomination of Noel Eugene Servigon as nonresident ambassador to Bulgaria and Moldova in addition to being ambassador to Romania, as well as the nomination of Emmanuel Fernandez as ambassador to Pakistan with jurisdiction over Afghanistan.
Sen. Bong Revilla backed the confirmation of the ad interim appointments of the 22 AFP officers.
“This day is one of many symbols of recognition not only for the ranks and positions of our valiant soldiers but also for their timeless heroism, unparalleled dedication and selfless service to our beloved country,” Revilla said in his speech.
“It is only fitting to express our heartfelt gratitude to these honorable officers for their untiring dedication and their steadfast love for our country,” Revilla said. “Their heroism goes beyond the call of duty, inspiring not only the men and women under their command but every Filipino who values the principles of democracy and peace.”
