THE Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) is providing job opportunities for displaced workers of Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs).
Speaking in the program “Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon” on Thursday, DoLE’s Bureau of Local Employment Director Patrick Patriwirawan Jr. said the agency continues to conduct job fairs for the displaced POGO workers, with 202 of them hired on the spot.
Patriwirawan said the DoLE is also facilitating unemployment insurance benefits for affected workers, with 435 applications being processed.
“We assure the affected workers that we will refer them to the public employment service offices for job matching and career development support services to affected POGO workers,” he said.
The DoLE told the House Committee on Games and Amusement that the ban on POGOs will displace 27,790 workers.
