It was like a family affair of sorts during the grand unveiling of multimedia superstar Anne Curtis’ Madame Tussauds’ wax figure just last Wednesday in Makati.
Her sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith was present as well as her mommy Carmen, who were early birds in the event.
Anne’s friends off showbiz like Liz Uy were also in attendance, and others in the fashion industry did not miss the event.
We also did see important people in Anne’s showbiz life like manager Veronique Del Rosario-Corpus of Viva Entertainment; Betchay Vidanes; producer Dondon Monteverde; ABS-CBN CEO Carlo Katigbak and chairman Mark Lopez; filmmakers Irene Villamor, Jason Paul Laxamana, and many more.
Select media were in attendance, including yours truly, and we were more than happy to witness yet another milestone in Anne’s successful career. Of course, we did ask why her daughter Dahlia, who is four years old, was not present.
Anne’s mom gave a smart reason why she did not bring her. “Big event kasi baka ma-overwhelm!”
Anne has a special surprise for Dahlia, though, which is to take her to Madame Tussauds during their private time as a family.
“Ang plano ko pupunta kami ng Hong Kong. Tapos hindi ko sasabihin sa kanya,” she said. “Ang plano ko mag-HK kami tapos tingin-tingin doon and she might have to take a double look and be like… mama?! Haha!!!”
Anne Curtis is Anne Curtis given the great mileage she has done to uplift the showbiz industry and make it known internationally. She has been in the industry for more than 25 years already, but her nervousness during her grand unveiling was what humanizes her to fans and is a great reason why she is adored by so many.
She remains so down-to-earth, and her reaction to many things is just so relatable.
During our chat with her, she shared, “Una ko siyang… bakit sobra akong tulala. I was in disbelief, ganito pala feeling na meron kang kakambal!!! Mula ilong hanggang nunal. I’m amazed, kuhang kuha.”
Anne is the very first Filipina actress and host to be situated at the Glamour zone in Madame Tussauds alongside Hollywood A-listers and Asian VIPs, making us Filipinos well represented at such an iconic landmark in Hong Kong.
“This was a dream come true for me! It’s about time that Filipinos were able to introduce themselves worldwide across different fields. I’m thankful that Madame Tussauds Hong Kong chose me to show that Pinoy talent is world-class.”
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong head of sales and marketing, BoBo Yu, also showed her excitement.
“It was so great to work with Anne throughout the entire process of creating this. We’re very proud to have her as the first-ever Filipino actress and host in our attraction. We’re looking forward to the interactions her fans will have with the wax figure.”
Anne was very collaborative when it came to which look she wanted her wax figure to have. Her goal was to be timeless.
If you look at her star wax figure closely in the photos, the qualities were beautifully captured in her wax likeness, posed as if she were ready to host and conquer the stage as she held a microphone.
Anne was dressed in an elegant cream-colored Dior gown donated by Anne, making her twin statue radiate the same sophistication she possessed.
“We wanted something that would be timeless and true to who I am. This was also the first look that I had when I had just stepped back into the fashion industry,” said Anne.
“The microphone also became such a powerful tool for me in my 27 years in the industry — hosting, speaking about my advocacies, and even doing concerts! I’m happy it became a part of my wax figure to inspire people to pursue their dreams,” concluded she.
