De La Salle University dominated Adamson University, 70-55, on Saturday in the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball Final Four at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to continue its title defense bid and advance to the finals.
The Green Archers pulled away in the second period after outscoring the Soaring Falcons, 18-6, to end the first half with a 36-17 lead.
It did not stop there however as the Taft-based squad led by 27, 58-31, late in the third period before the said frame closed at 59-34.
Adamson, however, gave La Salle a scare as it cut its deficit to 13 after an 11-0 run midway in the fourth quarter. Despite this, time was on the Green Archers’ side as they eventually sealed the win even as Adamson outscored La Salle, 21-11, in the said frame.
Presumptive back-to-back Most Valuable Player Kevin Quiambao had 14 points, three rebounds, three steals, two blocks, and two assists, while Josh David had 11 points for La Salle. Mike Phillips also stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, eight rebounds, five steals, four assists, and two blocks.
Royce Mantua had 14 points, while Cedrick Manzano was a rebound shy of a double-double outing with 13 points, nine boards, two blocks, and an assist.
La Salle will enter its second straight finals stint and will face the University of the Philippines anew in the best-of-three series.
