MANILA, Philippines — Robert Bolick caught fire in the fourth quarter as he led red-hot NLEX to a come-from-behind 104-99 triumph over defending champion San Miguel Beer in the main game of the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The reigning PBA Scoring champion dropped 20 of his 39 points in the fourth period, a stretch that saw the Road Warriors outgun the Beermen, 33-24 to steal the win after being down by 19 in the third canto.
The 32-year-old Bolick went perfect from the four-point zone and three-point arc, making his two attempts in both long distance in a performance to remember.
The two-time PBA All-Star wound up with a game-high 39 points and nine rebounds.
His high-scoring ways marked the second time Bolick breached the 30-point mark after unloading 32 points in a game where NLEX routed Terrafirma, 104-85 last week.
The Beermen, who opened the conference with a 107-104 win against Phoenix last week, dropped to 1-1.
Import Mike Watkins was also a monster off the boards with 28 blocks, while scoring 17 points and adding four blocks.
Dane Torres, Tony Semerad and Enoch Valdez scored 10 or more points in contributing to the bog NLEX comeback win, improving to 3-1 overall.
Quincy Miller led the Beermen with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while June Mar Fajardo had 20 and 19 boards.
CJ Perez finished with 14, but shot just 5-of-16 overall.
