MANILA, Philippines — Three commercial vessels in Navotas have been accosted for alleged illegal fishing, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
In a joint operation with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources’ MCS 3009 surveillance ship, the PCG on Dec. 5 apprehended three vessels and their crew for allegedly violating the Fisheries Code of the Philippines.
Each ship is facing fines of up to P250,000, P450,000 and P1.1 million, respectively.
The third vessel reportedly evaded authorities.
Capt. Jomark Angue of the PCG manned MCS 3009, with Capt. Vincent Laca of the Coast Guard station in Manila.
