MANILA, Philippines — Elon Musk’s social network X, formerly known as Twitter is ramping up its operations in the Philippines by beefing up its team and presence in Manila.

The STAR has learned that X has signed up in one of Megaworld’s McKinley West buildings to set up its Manila office.

However, Megaworld officials declined to disclose further details due to the confidentiality clause in the contract.

McKinley West is a 34.5-hectare ultra-high-end township in Taguig City.

Tesla, another company led by Musk, also made its official debut in the Philippines last month with the opening of a showroom at the Uptown Parade, another Megaworld-owned property in Taguig.

On top of physical presence, X is also growing its team in the Philippines by building a safety team in its Manila X office.

X has recently been scouting for candidates for various roles such as HR business partner, user operations specialist for strategic response team and safety agents.

According to X, its safety team in Manila will consist of a significant hourly population (agents), team leads and a site manager who are the front line operators for content moderation on its platform.

X said that its safety organization is responsible for helping users successfully and safely use the platform.

“This includes investigating issues that may cause harm to our users or pose risk to X, such as combating spam and fraud, and providing support to our customers,” X said.

“At X, we’re on a mission to become the trusted global digital public square, committed to protecting freedom of speech and building the future unlimited interactivity. Our goal is to empower every user to freely create and share ideas, fostering open public discourse without barriers,” it said.
