MANILA, Philippines — The Zonta Club of Laguna (ZCL) has joined the global campaign to end violence against women.

In celebration of the 16 Days of Activism, Zonta International District 17 Area 5 held its kick-off ceremony last November 25, in an event at Fort Santiago in Intramuros, Manila, in partnership with the Intramuros Administration.

Together with ZCL president and incumbent Laguna 1st District Rep. Ann Matibag, ZCL is set to facilitate various activities as part of their campaign efforts in furthering their cause alongside with the other Zonta Chapters in the Philippines.

“As a mother to my three children, LaguNanay of San Pedro City and the Zonta Club of Laguna president, I firmly stand in our fight in ending gender-based violence. Women and children have been an easy target for such abuse which brings fear to their lives. I shall do all that I can, as a woman, mother, legislator of the country and Zonta Club of Laguna president, to make sure that we continue our fight and make our voices heard. There will be a bright future that awaits every woman, child and citizen of our country where peace, justice and safety prevail,” Matibag said.
