MANILA, Philippines — To ensure a smooth transition of the province of Sulu from the Bangsamoro to the national government, the intergovernmental relations body (IGRB) will create a technical working group (TWG) that will oversee the process.

The creation of the TWG shows the commitment of the national and regional governments in resolving issues brought to their attention, the IGRB said.

The TWG will develop a transition plan and outline the reassignment of employees and deposition of the offices of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Mindanao.

The group is expected to ensure that government operations and delivery of essential services to the people will not be disrupted.

The TWG will look into the implementation of ongoing and planned programs and projects for Sulu.

During a meeting of the IGRB, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, co-chairperson of the IGRB for the national government, stressed the panel’s commitment to help facilitate Sulu’s transition.

Established in 2019, the IGRB is composed of representatives from line agencies and ministries from the national and Bangsamoro governments.
