MANILA, Philippines — TV host and health advocate Kim Atienza, fondly called Kuya Kim to most who know him, is prepared to spend a white Christmas in Vale, Colorado with his family — wife Fely and three children, Jose III, Eliana and Emman.

The two older ones are based in the US and they are skiers. Jose is working in Boston (Massachusetts), while his daughter is studying at the University of Pennsylvania (U-Penn). His third and youngest just finished high school.

They are staying in the US for only 10 days — from Dec. 21 to Jan. 4. “We just want the family to spend time together,” Kuya Kim told The Philippine STAR. “Fely and I will do a lot of eating, while the kids go skiing.”

The snow in Colorado, now at -11 degrees Celsius, is one of the best there is, according to Kuya Kim. “We taught the kids how to ski at a young age and they are very good skiers.”

There’s nothing material that Kuya Kim wishes for this Christmas. “I just want my children to be safe,” he declared. “And I want my kids to find themselves and have a deeper relationship with God.”

Kuya Kim is happy that things are doing well as far as his life and family are concerned. “I want my TV career to continue,” he said. “I’ve been blessed and I have nothing but gratitude.”

Thankfully, his health didn’t bring any challenges this year. He is grateful that GMA Network “adopted” him and he recently renewed his contract for three more years.

“To be relevant at this point in my career in this state of Philippine television, is such a blessing,” Kuya Kim said. “We have a lot of friends around who are doing nothing. They can’t find work. TV has been changing its landscape and I have been around.”

Present at the contract signing for the TV host and trivia king’s latest endorsement deal are (from left) Eric Maranan, chief finance officer; Minette Carag, board member; Joey Marcelo, CEO; Karen Marcelo, finance director; and Paul Caluag, managing director for Asia 1.

He has a regular show on GMA Network, “Ang Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim,” an infotainment program that has been doing well in the ratings and bringing in a good load of advertisement.

The all-natural and organic Santé Barley powder, on the other hand, has Kuya Kim as brand ambassador for 13 years now. The product is ideal for weight control, fighting diabetes or infection and is full of anti-oxidants and nutrients the body needs.

“It doesn’t cure anything but is ideal for prevention,” pointed out Kuya Kim. “I saw how Santé Barley has grown through the years. Barley is grown on a farm in New Zealand.”

“When Santé Barley was starting 13 years ago, I’m so proud of the fact that I was the first one whom they got as a brand ambassador. To see Santé Barley grow, where I’m part of the family, it’s great to know.

Kuya Kim first met Sante Barley International chief executive officer (CEO) Joey Marcelo. “Aside from my relationship with Joey, the product is good,” said Kuya Kim.

Others in the pipeline of Santé Barley products are skin care and home care products to be introduced soon.
