A total of 16,000 individuals affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon in Negros Island have received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Operation Bayanihan project.

According to a “24 Oras” report on Monday, food packs and face masks were distributed to residents of Bago, La Castellana and La Carlota towns in Negros Occidental, which were heavily affected by the volcanic eruption.

Mt. Kanlaon erupted on December 9. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Friday that 11,791 families, or 40,489 persons, in Western Visayas and Central Visayas were affected.
