A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck off the coast of San Policarpio in Eastern Samar early Friday morning, the Philippine Instritute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake, which occurred at 3:22 a.m., was tectonic in origin and occurred at the depth of 17 kilometers.
PHIVOLCS is not expecting damage in the areas but aftershocks may occur. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
