PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday said he would celebrate Christmas in Manila and Baguio by spending “a little quality time” with his wife, first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and his family.

Marcos said he would spend Christmas eve in Malacañang, after which he planned to travel to Baguio.

He admitted that his family has no definite holiday plan yet since his three sons “have so many plans.”

“On Christmas day I’ll be in Manila but I’ll go to Baguio but after that we have no plan yet, we haven’t really decided as a family. Everyone is busy,” Marcos said during a media interview.

“They have so many plans but maybe the first lady and I will spend a little quality time together,” he added.

The president however said it depends on his “very flexible” schedule, considering that he is “always on call.”

Marcos also said he planned to catch up on his readings during the holiday break.

“I don’t have off days. I’m not exempted. We’re not exempted from having vacation, holiday and weekend,” Marcos said.

“Whatever it is I’m always available. But of course all of us we could use a little break. I have so many books that I haven’t read yet. So, I’ll read them all during vacation,” he said.

Presidential Communications Secretary Cesar Chavez on Wednesday said Marcos would spend Christmas with his family at Malacañang.

This is the third time the first family will celebrate Christmas in the Palace.

In one of his vlogs early this year, Marcos said that his New Year’s resolution was to spend more time with his family.

During the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Malacañang on Dec. 1, the president said every Filipino deserves to celebrate the holiday season despite the challenges they face.

The Palace grounds are open to the public until Dec. 23 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. for Christmas activities featuring live music, food and rides.

Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 are special nonworking holidays, while Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 are regular holidays.
