A Pasig court on Friday denied the petition for bail filed by dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo and others in her qualified trafficking case.

This was confirmed by Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon.

In a resolution posted by GMA’s Saleema Refran on X (formerly Twitter), the Pasig court said it denied the petition “considering that the evidence presented by the prosecution against them during the bail hearing is strong.”

Guo is currently detained at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory.

GMA News Online has asked Guo’s camp for comment but has yet to receive a response as of posting time.

Guo and others were charged with violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended by the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 and the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022.

The case is connected with the raid on a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Guo’s town in June, where over 800 Filipinos and foreigners were rescued.

In September, Guo pleaded not guilty to the charges. Atty. Nicole Jamilla, one of her lawyers, said the embattled former mayor is firmly denying the allegations against her.

Guo is also facing a graft case before a Valenzuela court and a material misrepresentation case before a Tarlac court.

A quo warranto petition was also filed against Guo with a Manila court, as well as a petition to cancel her birth certificate before a Tarlac court.

She is also facing a tax evasion complaint, 87 counts for money laundering, and a perjury and falsification complaint before the DOJ.
