COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro government and the Department of Labor and Employment-12 are cooperating in ensuring the safety of workers in industrial plants in the autonomous region.
Bangsamoro Labor and Employment Minister Muslimin Sema told reporters on Monday, December 23, that experts from their ministry and the DOLE-12 regional office in Koronadal City inspected the service plant of Cotabato Light and Power Company, as well as the large processing and power-generation facilities of Lamsan Incorporated, which produces cassava starch in large volumes for export.
The COLIGHT operation plant is located in Cotabato City, while the cornstarch factory of Lamsan Incorporated is situated in the Crossing Simuay area of Sultan Kudarat in Maguindanao del Norte
“The purpose of the on-site inspection missions is to determine if both companies are complying with the safety standards, ensuring safety and protection of workers, set by the national and the Bangsamoro regional governments. So far, so good. No violations, whatsoever,” Sema said.
Sema said the Ministry of Labor and Employment-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and the DoLE-12 are ensuring the safety of workers in industrial establishments in Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur and in Cotabato City, which is BARMM’s regional capital.
Last week’s on-site safety evaluation tours in the operation centers of the COLIGHT and the Lamsan Incorporated were ed by engineer Noel Reyes from DOLE-12 and his counterpart engineers in MOLE-BARMM, Edwin Alvarez, Mohamad Jehad Anayatin and Jamalia Lantod.
Sema said they plan to involve engineers in local government units in Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte and Cotabato City in the industrial safety regulations enforcement activities of the MOLE-BARMM and DOLE-12.
