Renowned Japanese watchmaking brand, Seiko, continues to celebrate the breathtaking beauty of Manila through its Philippine Limited Edition series, now in its fifth release.
Since its inception in 2020, Seiko has remained dedicated to preserving biodiversity, using this platform to raise awareness about the country’s extraordinary wildlife and natural landscapes. Previous editions have drawn inspiration from the Tubbataha Reefs, the Philippine Sunrise, the Philippine Eagle, and the Banaue Rice Terraces.
Today, Seiko turns its attention to the Whiskered Pitta. Nestled within the lush Philippine rainforests, the Whiskered Pitta enchants with its vivid plumage and distinctive high-pitched whistle. More often heard than seen, this elusive species is a prized sighting among birdwatchers. Its presence in dense undergrowth and leaf-littered forest floors serves as a testament to the rich biodiversity of Philippine rainforests, particularly on the islands of Luzon, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao.
Currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN Red List, the new Philippine Limited Edition Watch not only highlights the Whiskered Pitta’s stunning beauty but also serves as a reminder of the urgent need to protect its habitat, reinforcing Seiko’s ongoing mission to safeguard the Philippines’ unique biodiversity.

Preserving the Seiko Forest in Sierra Madre
With each purchase of the Seiko 5th Philippine Limited Edition Watch, a tree is planted in the Sierra Madre. This initiative, made possible in partnership with Fostering Education & Environment for Development, Inc. (FEED), aims to support the rehabilitation and reforestation of the Sierra Madre, the natural habitat of the Whiskered Pitta. The non-government organization’s efforts focus on restoring the forest ecosystem while empowering local communities through sustainable programs.
To date, over 1,150 trees have been planted, with 1,288 more still in the process of being added. Aimed at creating a lasting positive impact on the environment, over sixteen species — such as Malaruhat, Lipote, Kamagong, Bani, Kupang, Balobo, Dulita, and more — are being carefully planted to enrich the local ecosystem. Each tree planted can be tracked through EcoMatcher’s live map, allowing patrons to see their contribution in real-time.
Embodying the spirit of the Whiskered Pitta, the new Philippine Limited Edition Watch is rare, beautiful, and resilient — one that transcends both as a timepiece and as a symbol of commitment to preserving the natural world. With each glance, the vital connection between time and nature is ever-present.
The 5th Philippine Limited Edition Watch is now available for preorder at a suggested retail price of P54,000.
