As she joins the entire nation in celebrating Christmas Day, Vice President Sara Duterte highlighted the importance of forgiveness.
Duterte said each and everyone of us are encouraged to be forgiving, generous, and loving to other people this season.
Gamitin natin ang kaniyang halimbawa bilang inspirasyon sa ating pakikipag-kapwa, lalo’t higit sa ating pamilya at mga minamahal sa buhay,” Duterte said in a video on her social media account.
(The birth of Jesus is a message of forgiveness that encompasses God’s love for everyone. Let us use this as an inspiration when it comes to our relations with other people, especially our family and loved ones.)
Duterte urged the public to give understanding, love, and respect to others rather than giving more importance to material things that people receive during this season.
(More than the material things we receive on Christmas Day, we are urged to give understanding, respect, and love to each other, especially for the poor and the sick.)
She emphasized that this is the real meaning of Christmas that should be observed not just this season but in our daily lives.
(This is the true spirit of this season and this is also a reminder for us not just this Christmas but everyday. Again, I extend my warm greetings to every Filipino across the world.)
Early this month, Duterte admitted that she is not a forgiving person. This came amid her ongoing feud with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., First Lady and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. — BM, GMA Integrated News
