MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will be experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the convergence of the hot and cold air called shear line, the state-run weather agency said on Christmas Day.
The good news, according to weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), is that there was no tropical cyclone monitored outside or outside the country’s area of responsibility in the coming days.
Aside from Metro Manila, the shear line is also affecting Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Marinduque, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon locally known as “amihan” is also bringing similar weather conditions over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region, while partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos Region, the national weather agency said.
The rest of the country will likely have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought about by the localized thunderstorms in 24 hours, it added.
