No untoward incident has been recorded across the country amid the celebration of Christmas Eve, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday.

The police organization said Christmas Eve celebration has been generally peaceful.

”Generally peaceful naman po nationwide as no significant untoward incident recorded po,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo told reporters.

Christmas Day is a holiday in the Philippines, with people spending time with their relatives and loved ones. Some families also visit tourist or vacation spots to spend the holiday season.

Earlier, the PNP said the traditional nine-day Simbang Gabi ended “generally peaceful” on Tuesday.

With the end of Simbang Gabi, Fajardo said on Tuesday that the PNP will now focus on securing transportation hubs and markets.

“Yung ating focus naman ngayon na babantayan ay doon sa ating mga major transportation hubs, mga malls, at mga iba pang establisyimento, mga night markets dahil inaasahan nga po natin na yung mga hahabol pa para po sa bisperas po ng Pasko ay mamimili po at mag-iikot po ngayon,” she said.
