MANILA, Philippines — It will be storm-free until the weekend except for isolated or scattered rains in some areas in the archipelago, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.
Weather specialist Rhea Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reiterated that it has not monitored any tropical cyclones or low pressure areas (LPAs) inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the coming days.
“There were cloud formations spotted over the eastern section of Southern Luzon and Visayas which had no chance to develop into an LPA but they were expected to bring rains in those areas,” Torres said.

In its 5 a.m. advisory, Pagas said the convergence of hot and cold air called shear line has been affecting Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Quezon, and Dinagat Islands where cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms would prevail.
The northeast monsoon or “amihan” is bringing overcast skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon.
The same weather system is also affecting Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon where isolated light rains will be likely, the state-run weather agency said.
The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, will be experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms brought about by the localized thunderstorms, it added.
