There were more than 900 individuals who needed medical attention while attending the religious activities to celebrate the Feast Day of Jesus Nazareno on Thursday, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) reported.
As of 1 a.m. on Friday, more than 1,000 PRC volunteers and staff were mobilized and were able to serve at least 917 individuals were served with 446 needing vital signs monitoring, 412 needed minor assistance while 9 were treated for major ailments and 30 were transported to hospitals.
The PRC Emergency Field Hospital served 20 patients while the others were transported to medical facilities:
- Jose Reyes Memerorial Medical Center – 5
- Tondo Medical Center – 4
- UP-PGH DOH EFH – 3
- Chinese General Hospital – 2
- PGH – 2
- Philippine Orthopedic Center-1
- Manila Doctor – 1
- EFH Patients Transported to Medical Facility after management – 15
The chief complaints of the patients ranged from minor ailments such as allergies, burns, blisters, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, sore throat, sprain and toe pain.
The patients who suffered major ailments complained of dizziness with blurry vision, nausea and body weakness, difficulty of breathing, and numbness while those who were transported felt nauseous, chest pain, deviated nose, dislocated shoulder, ankle pain, Difficulty of Breathing, chills, severe back pain, suspected fracture, and suffered profuse bleeding.
There were 131 individuals given welfare assistance such as psychosocial first aid, tracing, referral, free Call, and others.
The PRC distributed up to 1,070 liters of water to about 2,880 individuals. — with Joviland Rita/BAP, GMA Integrated News
