THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said it would invest P10.6 billion on civil works and P1.8 billion on equipment and systems upgrades in 2025.
The upgrades aim to allow safe and efficient night operations, addressing the growing demands of air traffic and improving overall airport functionality.
“Our thrust is really to make the Philippine skies safe. We want to avoid accidents and incidents as much as possible,” said CAAP Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo.
Among the facilities scheduled for upgrades were the Cauayan, Dipolog and Pagadian airports.
Meanwhile, Bukidnon Airport would begin operations by the first quarter of 2025. The new airport aims to serve as a critical gateway for local travel and trade in the region.
CAAP Deputy Director General for Administration Danjun Lucas said the initiative was aligned with government efforts to create aviation facilities at par with international standards.
