Rhenz Abando and Dave Ildefonso will join Strong Group Athletics in its redemption tour in the Dubai International Basketball Championship later this month.
SGA made the announcement on Friday, with head coach Charles Tiu saying more are expected from Abando and Ildefonso in their return.
“With Kevin Quiambao, JD Cagulangan, and Jordan Heading now in the pros, much is expected from Rhenz and Dave,” Tiu said in a statement.
“They’ve both proven themselves on big stages before, but this tournament will be a test of their ability to lead and deliver under pressure.”
Both players last played in the KBL with Abando parting ways with the Anyang JKJ Red Boosters in May 2024 and Ildefonso formerly with the Suwon KT Sonicboom before applying for the PBA Draft where he was selected fifth overall by NorthPort.
Abando and Ildefonso were with the Strong Group in last year’s Jones Cup.
SGA also previously announced that Jason Brickman will join SGA in Dubai.
Justine Sanchez, NCAA Season 100 Mythical Team member Tony Ynot, and Most Valuable Player Allen Liwag of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde will also return, along with Ange Kouame and Andray Blatche.
Demarcus Cousins will also join SGA as it hopes to complete its unfinished business in Dubai after finishing second last year.
The Dubai International Basketball Championship will be played from January 24 to February 2, 2025.
