THE Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) is taking a major step forward in modernizing its services with the launch of new Express Mail Service (EMS) delivery hubs in select cities in the National Capital Region (NCR).
PHLPost has set up new delivery hubs in Manila, Quezon City, Makati, and Pasay City, expecting to improve the accessibility, efficiency and convenience of both domestic and international express mail delivery.
These new hubs in the metropolis will officially begin operations on Jan. 13, 2025, complementing the Quezon City hub, which has been operational since November 2024.
This decentralization move will significantly reduce dependence on the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City, previously the primary hub for EMS deliveries in the National Capital Region.
Under the new system, each hub will serve designated areas within Metro Manila to ensure faster and more efficient mail processing. Customers can now transact and claim their EMS items closer to home, eliminating the need for long commutes. This setup is expected to bring substantial cost savings and added convenience to patrons, while also improving service reliability through real-time tracking and optimized delivery routes, PHLPost said.
The Quezon City hub will handle deliveries for Quezon City, Caloocan, Marikina, Navotas, Malabon, Novaliches and Valenzuela. The Pasay CMEC hub will cover Pasay, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque and Taguig. The Makati hub will focus on Makati, Pasig, Mandaluyong, and Pateros, while the Manila hub will cater to Manila and San Juan.
PHLPost has introduced standardized cut-off times to ensure prompt delivery.
Customers mailing express items before 3:30 p.m. in Manila, Makati, Quezon City and Pasay can expect next-day delivery. Other areas, such as Valenzuela, Marikina, and Pasig, have a cut-off time of 2:00 PM. Items mailed beyond these hours will be delivered within 48 hours.
The enhanced Domestic Express Mail Service (DEMS) is designed to provide reliable next-day delivery for urgent messages, documents, and goods within Metro Manila.
For international destinations, PHLPost continues to leverage its membership with the Universal Postal Union and bilateral agreements with 56 countries to ensure seamless cross-border exchanges of EMS items.
According to Postmaster General Luis Carlos, this initiative reflects PHLPost’s commitment to remaining competitive in the evolving logistics and e-commerce industries.
He said by investing in these new hubs, the organization is positioning itself as a key player in delivering fast, dependable, and cost-effective services.
“As the new EMS hubs come online, PHLPost is set to redefine convenience and efficiency for its customers, marking a significant leap forward in the modernization of the country’s postal system,” said Carlos.
