THE New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the private operator of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, has officially opened the main arrival curbside at Terminal 1 to all private vehicles, marking a significant shift from its previous restriction to allow VIPs only.
This move is part of a broader initiative to enhance the travel experience and address congestion issues at one of the country’s busiest airport terminals.
The newly reconfigured pickup system at Terminal 1 is designed to simplify the process for private vehicles, ride-hailing services and metered taxis.
This change aims to provide a more inclusive and convenient experience for arriving passengers and their families.
The main arrival curbside now features 14 designated loading bays — A1 to A14 — allowing private vehicles to pick up passengers directly at the curb.
This eliminates the need for passengers to walk to the ground floor passenger arrival extension area, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable experience.
The new system was soft-launched on Friday, enabling passengers and transport providers to familiarize themselves with the updates.
Full implementation is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13, allowing time to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to ensure a seamless transition.
As part of the reconfiguration, the outer curbside — B1 to B6 — has been designated as an additional pickup area. This section will include a dedicated meet and greet area, set to open on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025.
Grab ride-hailing booths will also be strategically positioned within the area to provide quick and convenient booking options for passengers.
To further streamline operations, rent-a-car services, coupon taxis and yellow metered taxis will be relocated to the ground-level arrival extension area.
This adjustment is expected to reduce congestion at the main terminal curbside while maintaining access to reliable public transport options.
Terminal Transfer shuttle bus services will now operate from the main arrival curbside, with stops located just beyond Bay A14.
Clear directional signage will be installed throughout the terminal, and airport personnel will assist passengers and drivers in navigating the updated system.
“These changes are part of our commitment to delivering a seamless and efficient airport experience,” said NNIC President Ramon S. Ang. “By introducing a redesigned curbside system, we are making it easier for passengers and their loved ones to connect while addressing long-standing traffic issues at Terminal 1.”
