THE Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has been named one of the top government employers in the Philippines, according to the Employee Job Happiness Index 2024 by Jobstreet by SEEK.
The survey showed that Filipino jobseekers prioritize flexibility, company reputation and values when choosing employers.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and Department of Education (DepEd) lead the rankings of preferred government institutions. PPA’s inclusion in this list highlights its strong appeal to job seekers.
PPA’s Human Resources Management Department (HRMD) supports employee growth through local and international scholarships. In 2023, PPA granted 278 foreign and 136 local scholarships. It also offers a Career Enrichment Program (CEP) for professional exam preparation and transitioned to hybrid learning after the pandemic.
PPA adheres to the Civil Service Commission’s Prime-HRM framework, earning the Prime-HRM Bronze Award in 2018 for merit-based recruitment and performance management systems.
“As we continue to improve our port facilities, we also invest in our people inside and outside port areas. Without the employees, there will be no great outputs. We are proud to say that the PPA is among the recognized government agencies regarding best HR practices,” said PPA General Manager Jay Santiago.
PPA also engages in community outreach, including its 2024 Christmas drive in Agoncillo, Batangas, supporting families affected by Typhoon Kristine.
