AC Health, the health care arm of Ayala Corp., has officially integrated the FEU-NRMF Medical Center into its Healthway Medical Network (HMN) after the two parties entered into a 35-year lease agreement.

The deal, under which the hospital will be rebranded as Healthway FEU-NRMF Medical Center, aims to enhance AC Health’s operational efficiency and introduce patient-centered innovations in the fifth district of Quezon City.

The integration is also a milestone for both institutions as it will combine FEU-NRMF’s health care and education legacy with AC Health’s expanding integrated health ecosystem.

“Finding a partner with shared values, and a commitment to continue our mission, was paramount in our decision to lease the hospital,” FEU-NRMF Foundation President Juan Enrique Reyes said in a statement.

“Beginning with our initial discussions with AC Health, there was instant and tangible synergy between our teams,” he added.

“It was clear that our cultures and values were aligned. It just felt right.”

As part of the transition, the rebranded hospital will undergo extensive improvements.

Upgrades will include reviving its catheterization laboratory, enhancing its coronary artery bypass grafting surgery program, creating a women’s health center equipped with a 3D mammogram, expanding its hemodialysis facility, and modernizing its eye center.

“The Healthway FEU-NRMF Medical Center represents a renewed commitment to quality and accessible health care — rooted in legacy but focused on the future,” AC Health Chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala said.

“It is a recognition that great institutions must continue to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve,” he added.

“With this transition, we reaffirm our commitment not only to patient care, but to continuing that legacy of education and professional excellence.”

Located in Quezon City, the medical center is the only Level 3 hospital in the fifth district and supports a workforce of over 540 accredited physicians across 11 clinical departments.

It also offers 10 residency and five fellowship training programs, with clinical strengths in cardiology, neurology, nephrology, oncology, OB and gynecology, and surgery.

AC Health President and CEO Paolo Borromeo, meanwhile, said: “As the Healthway FEU-NRMF Medical Center officially becomes part of AC Health’s integrated ecosystem, we look forward to greater collaboration and synergy across our growing network of hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies as well as the broader Ayala ecosystem.”

HMN President and CEO Jimmy Ysmael emphasized the significance of the partnership in delivering holistic and accessible care.

“The Healthway FEU-NRMF Medical Center is a vital addition to our network of hospitals and clinics, significantly strengthening our presence in Quezon City and reinforcing our mission to provide integrated, holistic care,” he said.

Originally established in 1952 in Morayta and relocated to Quezon City in 1999, the FEU hospital has played a pivotal role in both health care delivery and medical education. Under HMN’s management, it is expected to maintain its dual role as a center for comprehensive health care and a training ground for future health care professionals.

AC Health in April said that it was aiming to be a $2-billion health care enterprise by 2035. Over the next three years, it aims to deepen and expand its presence in key cities through organic and inorganic expansion of its hospital and clinic network, with a target of 1,150 retail pharmacies, 400 clinics and 10 hospitals.

Borromeo earlier said that AC Health would be allocating P6 billion to P8 billion in capital expenditures for its initiatives, to be funded internally, and that the company was in acquisition talks with seven to 10 hospitals with a bed capacity of between 100 and 200 located in various major cities in the country.

On Friday, shares of AC Health’s parent Ayala Corp. closed at P603.00 apiece, up by P3.00, or 0.50 percent.
