CEBU Pacific carried 2.2 million passengers in June, marking a 7.9-percent increase from the 2.07 million recorded in the same month last year.

In a disclosure, the budget airline said domestic passenger traffic grew by 7.3 percent compared to a year earlier, supported by a 6.8-percent increase in seat capacity, resulting in a seat load factor (SLF) of 92.1 percent.

International passenger volume expanded 9.7 percent year-on-year on the back of a 14.2-percent increase in seat capacity, although SLF in this segment slipped 3.1 percentage points to 76.1 percent.

Cebu Pacific’s overall SLF stood at 87.5 percent in June, down slightly from 88.3 percent last year, but total seat capacity rose 8.8 percent.

For the first half of 2025, the airline flew 13.9 million passengers, a 20.8-percent rise from 11.5 million travelers flown in the same period in 2024.

Domestic passengers accounted for 10.4 million, up 20.4 percent, while international passengers reached 3.5 million, increasing by 22.3 percent.

The airline’s average SLF for the six-month period stood at 85.4 percent, with total seat capacity rising 20.6 percent to 16.3 million.

“Despite the earlier onset of the academic calendar — moving the start of classes from late July last year to mid-June this year — passenger traffic and seat load factors remained resilient,” Cebu Pacific President Xander Lao said.

“Domestic demand remained strong as shown by [the] 92 percent load factor, while international traffic grew by over 9 percent as we invested in connecting cities outside Manila to more international ports,” he added.

Lao noted that seat load factors increased in the first half even with seat growth of more than 20 percent, underscoring “the continued strength of air travel demand within our network.”

“Capacity for the second half of June was reduced due to the commencement of the leaner season. This also aligns with ongoing proactive management of engine and supply chain issues, and as such we would expect capacity growth levels to stay at similar levels through the third quarter before rising again in the fourth quarter.”

Shares of Cebu Air, Inc., the operator of Cebu Pacific, shed 10 centavos, or 0.27 percent, to close at P36.90 apiece on Tuesday.
